KAG is now a SmartWay

with the U.S. Environmental Protection

Agency. Launched in 2004, SmartWay

is a collaboration between the

EPA and the freight transportation

industry that helps shippers, carriers

and logistics companies improve

fuel efficiency and save money.

SmartWay reduces transportation-

related emissions that affect climate

change, reduces environmental risk for

companies and more.

SmartWay aims to accelerate the

availability and adoption of advanced

fuel-efficient technologies in the freight

supply chain, while helping companies

save fuel, lower costs and reduce

negative environmental impacts. EPA

helps SmartWay Partners move more

goods across more miles with lower

emissions and less energy.

“SmartWay is important to many of

our customers, who seek vendors with

the designation to satisfy sustainability

initiatives and requirements,” says

Bruce Stockton, Vice President of

Fleet Services. “The annual SmartWay

evaluation also allows us to benchmark

our improvement and identify new

technologies that have been adopted.”

Since 2004, 3,000 of the nation’s

shippers, logistics companies,

truck, rail, barge and multimodal

carriers (including many Fortune 500

companies) have registered with

SmartWay. SmartWay carriers now

account for 22 percent of all trucking

miles. We are proud to be a part of

the program.

As a SmartWay partner, we have

access to a consistent set of

EPA-tested tools to make informed

transportation choices, to help

measure, benchmark and report

carbon emissions, and improve

supply-chain efficiency and

environmental performance.
